Ms Qapela Ngcobo is an Industrial Psychologist. Prior to her current academic role, she accumulated extensive experience in independent psychological practice, psychosocial programme management, and forensic assessment. Ms Ngcobo's research interests lie at the intersection of psychobiographical studies and socio-historical psychology, with a particular focus on understanding how extraordinary individuals navigate, resist, and transform the socio-historical contexts in which they are embedded.

 

Drawing on narrative and psychobiographical methodologies, her work seeks to illuminate the psychological mechanisms, meaning-making processes, and identity negotiations of influential figures whose lives reflect broader historical forces such as colonialism, apartheid, social upheaval, or systemic marginalisation. Her psychometric expertise complements this qualitatively driven research agenda by providing a rigorous framework for understanding individual differences in personality, integrity, and cognitive functioning.
