Mervyn Makotla

 
Mervyn Makotla is an emerging academic in the field of Industrial and Organisational Psychology with a strong interest in labour relations, human resource management, and workplace dynamics. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Industrial Psychology and English, as well as a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree in Labour Relations and Human Resources, both obtained from Nelson Mandela University.
 
He is currently pursuing a Master of Commerce in Labour Relations and Human Resources at Nelson Mandela University, where he continues to expand his expertise in organisational research and evidence-based human resource practices. Mervyn also serves as an Academic Tutor in the Department of Industrial and Organisational Psychology, supporting student learning and contributing to the academic development of future professionals in the discipline.
 
His research focuses on workplace dynamics, with particular emphasis on conflict management, emotional intelligence, and employee retention. His Honours research explored the relationship between conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, and employee retention, while his current Master's study investigates the effectiveness of conflict resolution practices in enhancing employee retention within South Africa's automotive sector.
