How did your studies prepare you for the workplace?

Studies helped me to grasp the basic theoretical view of how the various workplace systems are supposed to work. Essentially it provided the groundwork, and an introduction to all the various HR related functions/areas.

What was the most valuable thing you learnt while studying?

Time management! Especially true of LR & HR Honours classes at NMMU. Classes were scheduled for the first two weeks of each semester and the rest is up to you. So it really taught me to keep going and manage my time, even when nobody is around to push you to meet those deadlines.

Do you have any advice for the current students?

Do your best in everything you do, you don’t know what new opportunities you may open yourself up to. At the end of the day it’s up to you to decide on your own success.
