Njongozabantu Edu-Care centre is a crèche in Motherwell for toddlers between 12 months and 4 years.
This project was run by Anneke Nell, Denielle Blignaut, Elane van der Westhuizen, Nakhane Majova and Tabiso Munetsi and they were mentored by Mr. Kevin Gardner from Coca Cola Fortune. The students set out to paint the structure, fix the shelves, roofs, windows and windows, start a vegetable garden, provide the Centre with blankets, mattresses, books and educational toys.
Of their goals they were able to achieve:
•An additional bookcase
•Vegetable garden
•2 Mattresses - which were donated
•Painting structure ; the paint that was left was donated to the Centre's new structure being built
•Blankets from 67 minutes with Pied Piper
•Educational books and toys
As well as buying foam puzzle mats for the floors.
Although the group faced many challenges they learnt a lot such as the processes and construction that goes into running the tasks they set out to do, how to communicate in a group and work as a team and they got to spend time with the children from Njongozabantu Edu-Care Centre.
