Industrial and Organisational Psychology

Our third group of students chose to help Jersusalem Ministry located near the Walmer Township for their CSR project. Group members Nicole Sibanda, Mukhethwa Chauke, Thoboza Skweyiya and Mpho Lebambo wanted to assist the organisation in the following ways:

  • Fix the playground - the swings, sand pit, paint the poles and decorate the tyres around the play area
  • Paint the library/ computer room
  • Install the computer boxes
  • Receive sponsorships for the following:
    • Materials for the CSR project
    • Clothing for the learners
    • Food
    • Receive financial aid and
    • Book donations

They were able to achieve many of their objectives; from the materials they needed to fix up the play area, computer room as well as donations of food, blankets and clothes.

The project was not smooth sailing as they encountered some communication problems, transport issues, time constraints and the access to funds was not always easy.

However the group overcame their adversities' and learnt the real meaning of Ubuntu. They also learnt the importance of communication, organisational skills, conflict management, and financial management and to have a back-up plan.
